All categories have hundreds of editors, no one person 'owns' a category or is assigned to be the only editor. No name simply means that no editor ends their permissions in that category. Just to name two, both Jim and I can edit there but our editor names are no where near the category. We are two of the hundreds of editalls + who can edit anywhere.

oh that's really cool. Can u please advice me where i wanna place my site. If transportation is not the appropriate category can i re submit in ''business and economy''. If you both have rights to edit, then can you please add the ''automotive'' subcategory there as like in other regions. So that i can resubmit my site there. Am i making u annoyed asking all silly questions.?

Having permission to edit in a category and wishing to volunteer to edit in the cat are two different things. Both editors mentioned do a huge amount of editing, but not in that particular location.

Adding a subcat for one site is not viable and generally 4-5 sites are required before a subcat would be considered. But this goes back to an Editor being willing to spend time there.

I believe you said that there is no "Named Editor". This dosent mean that people dont edit in there, there are hundreds who can. But it certainly would not be right for me to email an editor and ask him to volunteer to spend time to edit in there.

If he or she wished to do so, he or she would have done it by now. Suggest the site where you think it should go and then move on and promote the site through other means. It may or may not be reviewed at some stage, but we cant say when this will be.

    Regards :)

Questions that you do not know the answer to are not silly and we are glad to try and help you.

As snooks has said we do not simply create sub categories and not having a sub category is not at all unusual. Many regional localities will have no sub categories at all, it depends on the size. Also if you are keen to get a sub category then why not find all those sites you are talking about and offer them as suggestions and when an editor comes to do a review they will likely create a sub category if there are enough listable sites. You can even add the comment to your suggestions.

But if you have applied to be an editor then wait until you see if you have been accepted, all those sites will be useful in a new application if you need to make one and you can also mention in your application that you would look for a sub category to hold those sites.

I mentioned that two editors could edit there, but that does not mean that we are willing just to drop anything else we are doing and go create a sub category, for which there is presently little or no sites. It will have to wait for an editor to go and work there and no one sends anyone to do anything, we volunteer to do so. I was illustrating that a lack of a name does not mean there is no editor neither does a name mean that an editor is working daily, weekly or monthly in that category. I have my name on the bottom of a couple of categories that I have not had chance to work in for months. But I will get there one day, on other categories that my name is on, I often go there and find that another editor has been doing some work there, great.

Just trying to give you an insight into how this project works, unfortunately that style does not always please, especially, web owners but it is how it it is and it is why many of us have chosen to spend our spare time there.

You mean jimnoble? It looks like he's an editall, but he used to be meta, right? It is very unusual to go backwards in the ODP from what I've seen over the years. I wonder what event caused this - there must have been one.

    Aw Jim.....72 isnt old :)

After reviewing thousands of Editor Applications and all the other "behind the scene" Meta duties, I dont blame you stepping back forr a while and doing more of the basic editing that you enjoy.

OH MY GOD!!! I cant believe that i got some friends from Google. Also i thought you all are middle aged. Just looked at the signature and saw the profile. Really feeling glad. Anyway i will wait to get accepted and let me see what all things i can do. I am now 21 and i promise i will more than you all expect if i have life up to 72.

As a guess let me predict HIS age. HE is 88 years 78 days old. Am i correct??
