Many categories do not have editors listed at the bottom, that's because a named editor does not mean that it is 'their' category. Every category has hundreds of editors, a name at the bottom ONLY indicates the boundaries of where an editor can work, so that where there is a name that editor can work in that category and ANY sub categories anywhere down the list. So asking about the editor of a particular category, such things do not exist. But do remember that editors are encouraged NOT to reply to enquiries and if you are trying to influence your site being listed...forget it.
There is nothing like that inside it.. Shows only a button ''become an editor" . This means no editor for the page..?
what if i give an application to be an editor for the particular directory where i posted my site for submission..?
Last I checked the system was in an error state with no evidence they were looking into the matter... so NO you can not contact the ODP... and if you look around you'll find that they don't really want you to. If they did, they'd A) fix the contact page and B) actually be helpful when people are asking for ODP contact information.
You can apply, the buttons are at the bottom of most pages and where they don't appear a new editor would certainly not be given editing privileges there.
Will they accept if they came to know i own a website in the same category. But im sure that my website is the best one in that category
When you apply, you'll be asked to declare all websites that you own, have contributed content to or have promoted. An incomplete answer leads the evaluators to question your integrity. Aren't we all ?
i actually gave all honest answers like own the website and everything as like they asked. I need your opinion. Can u just search USED CARS IN KERALA and you can see my website on 2ND place (www.usedcarsinkerala.com). Can u please rate my website with my competitors and i need frank comments.
Jim has told you that owning a site is not a barrier to being an editor in the category you have asked to edit, neither will owning the 'best' site in the category ensure that you are allowed to edit in that category. Size of category and its subcategories is an important issue, showing that you can find other sites that fit the category, showing that you can spell and are good at grammar for descriptions is also needed as is the honesty that Jim addressed.
I will show u the category i applied to be an editor http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/India/Kerala/Transportation/ i think its a small category but there are many good sites which are eligible to get listed here. As an example www.keralartc.com, its the official website of kerala road transport corporation and never got listed in the category. As i am residing in kerala and also as an automobile engineer i forsee i can be the best editor for the category
Used cars aren't listed in Kerala/Transportation (perhaps you didn't notice the category description linked from the top right of the category page). They go in Kerala/Business_and_Economy. Attention to detail is another of the attributes that the application evaluators seek .
But u can see a site keralacar.com in the same category and its a site related to cars for rent in kerala
It's just the way the Transportation cat. is defined - rental cars go there but car sales go into B&E. If you've any doubt in the future, just do a DMOZ search and see where sites are generally listed.
Thanks for the information.. i am a newbie. and i dont know much about all sort of things. What if i resubmit my site business and economy?
I checked the similar niche websites and all of those listed in category named AUTOMOTIVE which is a subcategory in BUSINESS AND ECONOMY. But in the KERALA category there is no such category. So whats the solution for this??
Resubmission to a different cat. should not be a problem. However, if you are considering applying to be an editor there (in Kerala/B&E), I suppose you should wait if you've already applied to the Trans. cat. - they don't usually like it when 2 applications are pending for the same person. A good app. reviewer might even give you the B&E cat. (it's got only 29 total sites) without even applying, though it would be a bit of luck for that to happen. I would say in the case of a denial for the Trans cat, simply reapply for the B&E cat. It doesn't matter that the automotive cat isn't there, the site would just be listed under the main heading like the other 9 or so sites are listed.
