Hey! I have a new blog, and I'm very happy with it. I've written some content, about 7 posts, and have started to submit to some directories. Now, I'd like to engage in some link exchanges with other bloggers. I of course realise that I shouldn't ask the biggest blogs in my niche right away, but I should start exchanging links with other small blogs. My problem now is, that I can usually not find any contact info on other blogs. Am I stupid, or is there some magical way to contact another blogger? How do you do it? Should I perhaps just leave a comment somewhere? Thanks for your advice!
Many stand alone sites have default email addresses. You can try "postmaster@domain.com" or "admin@domain.com". Otherwise, search throughout the site, there may be a contact form or a specific email address hidden away somewhere.
For some reason the blog in you sig has the titles and date part missing off to the left in ie5 on XP?! I can send you a screen cap if this post makes no sense. Late
lateuk: You've got a PM rockymountainexperience: I'm sorry, I don't see how our blogs have much to do with each other. If you think you can somehow match our blogs together, let me know, I don't know anything about Colorado. For the rest: I usually check for email adresses, but I somewhat doubt if sending an email to an adress which doesn't exist has much use. If I get an email which is sent to a non-existing adress, I usually delete it right away, thinking it is spam. Do you think just leaving a comment is enough to get in touch with a fellow blogger?
Of course they would, as would I if I had a blog which had a high PR and a lot of age. Those blogs usually also have a nice 'contact' page. But I'm focussing my link exchanges right now new blogs, which have no PR or age, and have no 'contact' page (or at least, I can't find it).
I wouldn't really recommend link exchanges. Google can penalize you in many ways than you think. You can check out my blog where you can view information on how to get traffic, SEO, internet marketing, and more that can help you with your own blog. Slyvisions dot Com
Yes, find a "Contact" or "About" page, find an email address, find a special form in the sidebar for contact, or just post the request in the latest article comments section. Hope that helps.
I'd write some more before going for blogroll exchanges and a great way is to link to people as others have said. Best of luck
When I started my blog, I just linked to sites and blogs that were relevant to the subject matter, as well as links in my articles when referencing, or writing about someone, and you'd be surprised how many reference you back. I just recently checked on my links and realized that I had not given any link love back to a few blogs, and I am trying to catch that up. If you put together a good product, people will contact you that have established pages and give some link love. I got quite a few decent links before i had any PR. Having your own domain, and self hosted blog, (as you do) helps a lot with credibility and more people are apt to deal with you.
Sadly alot of times when I read a blog I like and want to trade links they either forget or choose not to list their email. :/
Pietercornelis I understand at first it may not see like a good match but you would need to know the people in Colorado. One of our main focus now is our environment and how energy affects everything here. Our biggest power company Xcel is always looking to expand our Solar/Wind farms here in Colorado. But i understand if you dont want to exchange links.
Exchange link is legal, and google wouldn't penalize you. Just trying to find the contact page. If not, you can't unless you lookup in the whois.sc.
