Hi, I think my site is penalized by Google as when I first started the site and knew nothing about SEO I used do duplicate content, like I'd make a page and name it two different things (I had a reason for that) but obviously didnt know at the time this is wrong. My site has good backlinks, PR5, 30k uniques a day and is indexed by Google but I hardly get any hits, about 3k a month, before I'd get about 40k. I tried contacting them about it but no reply in 2 weeks, do they ever reply to these sort of queries? I merely asked if I was penalized etc etc. It doesn't bother me that much as my site does fine without good SE traffic as I get my traffic from other resources and don't rely at all really on SE traffic but would like to know. Thanks
If you have adsense on the site you might want to try contacting that dept. I've never had your exact problem but I have heard some other people clearing up some problems by contacting an adsense rep.
You get 30k uniques a day and 3k a month? Please explain. Google has been very strict with duplicate content lately.Maybe your site showed up with the bots and then got scraped manually due to duplicate content.
I meant only 3k SE hits a month And my site still does show up in Google, just not as high as I thought it would for certain words.
yeah if you have an adsense or adwords account contact them through that, that is the only way i know of that will get a prompt answer.
It takes some time until they email you back. I had some adsense problems and it took them about a week to email me back.
You can always use this - http://www.google.com/support/bin/request.py It has worked for me in the past, had dropped by 10-12 pages for my keywords which i used to rank on the first page. They replied saying that its all automated n stuff and they dont manually change the serps, but after a month or two i was back on the 1st page. So it was either an update from G, or something else.
I've seen and quoted before, though people that have got answers from these addresses (and it isn't many) have quoted a response time of several months rather than weeks.
