Howdy everyone! Instead of sleeping last night I toyed around with a design for a construction site and I came up with this template: http://www.kocisz.com/construction/ It's just a mock-up page but I'd really like to hear what you guys think about the layout itself. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! -K
I would change the 'home', 'about us', etc buttons, but overall I like the feel of it... perhaps go a little lighter with the blue? oh, and on a very minor note, you mis-spelt 'structural design' in the header bar.
Header a bit big and takes a while to load / catch up on a slower connection. Bit too many gradients for my liking, and i would the background to something more grey/dark. Other than that a pretty good usable template.
Hmm. I don't trust my own sense of design, so I applaud you for asking for feedback from others. I'm going to ignore whether or not it looks pretty, because I'm not really qualified on that question. The Flash animation header is way too tall. It takes up half of the space "above the fold", which will make it harder for the company that uses your template to get their actual message across. Personally, I'd stay away from the animation at all. Again, it will distract the end user from the message that the construction company wants to communicate. Get rid of the valid xhtml / valid css images. Hard to get website developers to care about that, let alone a construction company. Again, it distracts from the message. Why is "Welcome to the Construction Company!" in an <h2> instead of an <h1>? I'm not sure it would actually matter to a search engine that's parsing the page, but it might. Good luck with it! -Chris
