Constructing Amazon affiliate links for forums?

I'm running a movie review forum, and have recently applied for the amazon affiliate program. Threw a bunch of amazon links into movie review posts on the first few pages of the forum... and seem to be getting not hits (clicks, much less sales). The amazon link builder provides links for websites rather than forums, so I have to construct my links by hand, and am not sure that I'm doing it properly.

I was about to provide an example of an amazon link with my referal ID tacked on at the end... but unfortunately, the forum does not allow that. So, I have to ask you guys to show me a how to build a proper link.

Just tack ?tag=YourAmazonCode-20 to the end of the Amazon link.

It won't work without the "tag" part? Because I've been going movie-name/B003WQB2JM/myamazoncode-20

you can check your link with the link checker on Amazon Associates to see if it's working, it's under the Links and Banners dropdown menu
