Ok, I was looking at analytics on a couple of my Clickbank merchant accounts, and noticed an almost unrealistic resemblance between the 2 charts. Check this out, it charts the number of hops each account has received: These are 2 separate accounts, but look at how they match up almost exactly. The numbers are different, because one does a lot more business than the other, but the trend is almost exactly the same. And by the way, these 2 websites are on separate servers. So this leads me to believe that there is something nefarious going on over at clickbank. There are only 3 possibilities -1. It's a big coincidence, 2. Something is going on over there that is effecting these accounts at the same level, or 3. their analytics charting is screwed up. (or maybe 4. I'm overly paranoid) Either way, the charts seem strange to me. What do you think?
Thats pretty crazy I don't have an answer, but Clickbank has JUST been through a massive update. My account was down for approx 8 hours with a message saying they were updating everything. My analytics was down for even longer - approx 30 hours... I know this because I have been trying to access it constantly during this time as I am in the middle of a launch Worse a lot of my stats tracking was missing, and also for affilaites during this time - all contacting me wondering where their sales went... thank god it was just an update and the information appeared later and all sales were made as normal... but I would imagine your account might update properly and get the data from where it is supposed to soon... my analytics looks accurate now and everything seems normal again now... .. but actually it looks like gravity hasn't been updated for 30 hours... like I've made a lot of sales but gravity hasn't updated yet and usually does daily... they've missed a day or something, or this might just be delayed.. .. to cut a long story short, yes clickbank has been updating, but actual sales, and the taking of payments hasn't been affected.
lol that is weird, Clickbank does act funny sometimes... It's like they turn off their analytics routinely..
Well, what does your statistics software (Analytics or AWStats) tell you? I admit that does look a little strange, but it should be easy to create similar graphs from your own visitor statistics and see if both accounts show the same pattern there as they do in the CB stats.
I don't run any other analytics software on these 2 sites, because the affiliates don't like seeing any type of tracking code on the page. So I don't put any on there unless I have to.
!!?? Seriously get Google Analytics on there straight away... ^^^ that just isn't the case... Analytics will show you real stats about your business, about where your traffic is coming from and what keywords and what don't... man, get it on there asap! It showed me that "subliminal messages" converts at 2.5% from google organic searches, but "subliminal messaging" converts at 0.5%... who would of thought it!?... guess which keywords I now know to focus on..
I definitely use google analytics all of the time. But not on my Clickbank merchant accounts while affiliates are promoting it. I don't need it myself, because I never compete w/ my affiliates for keywords on these sites. And there are some big affiliates out there that will not promote your stuff if they spot any analytic code on your page. They don't want you finding out their methods and then under-cutting them. Even though there are ways of tracking traffic without having code on the page. I still like making my paranoid affiliates happy. Especially since many of them are my top sellers. However, I will occasionally put code on there if I'm running into a problem or situation that I can't figure out on my own. Like right now I've just put My analytics software on to a couple of these sites. I like using Stuffed Tracker. It tells you just about anything you could want to know about your traffic, right down to the boxers or briefs.
I've never heard of having analytics as a deterrent to affiliates, it's never even come up in conversation with anyone before with me... during this launch im working with several people who have lists of 50k, 100k+ and no one once brought it up... even if youre not competing, which is good, it will still show you what is working, what is converting, so that you can give that guidance and expertise to affiliates. As long as you actually play it decent and don't show off your affiliates sites to other affiliates, and don't publish their data etc then I don't see a problem, even without analytics you can still very easily tell where 90% of affiliates are sending their traffic from and how they're doing it anyway, and that 10%, well they can hide it from you and so that you wouldn't be able to see either with or without analytics if they really want.
Honestly I don't hear it very often myself. But the few times I did hear complaints about my tracking code it was from a few of my top sellers. One of them was my very top seller and at the time was bringing me an average of 3 dozen sales per day. So needless to say I took the code off. I still use it when I'm first getting a site ready for launch. I'll make sure that the site is converting myself and study all of the analytics before I launch the site w/ clickbank. And like I said I'll still put it on there once in a while if I notice a sharp change in conversions or traffic. But for the most part you're right, I like keeping the analytics going on all of my other websites. It makes no sense to not use it.
Doesn't your webhost offer a few free stats tracking programs? If you are using CPanel I'm sure you have access to AWStats or Webalyzer...
They probably do. The last time I tried a free tracking program from my webhost, it was either a piece of crap, or it was just an upsell waiting to happen. But that was a while back, I might have to give it another look. Thanks.
