Consolidating CONTENT and SEARCH in one campaign

    Okay,

I can't wait to hear what you guys have to say about this...

Up until this point, i've separated my CONTENT and SEARCH campaigns. The trouble is, as my search campaigns grow in keyword size/density and my ads change through split testing, I have to go back and make the exact same changes to the CONTENT campaign.

So basically what I'm trying to say is I have two "identical" campaigns. One uses the CONTENT network and the other uses the SEARCH network.

I realize I can speed up my copying by using Adwords Editor, but I'm tired of doing double the work.

I want to stop the juggling act of fixing one campaign after making changes to the other. I want to just have one campaign with content AND the search network on.

    Here's the question....

How can I accurately continue split testing my Ad Copy when i have the content network running on the same campaign? Won't my CTR values appear skewed (much lower and harder to read) on the Ads?

How do some of you guys do it?

    -Jay

You don't want the same keywords in your Search and Content campaigns.

The CN keywords should define what sort of sites you want to appear on - long tail is pointless here.

Also, you can't have more than 50 keywords in an Adgroup - or rather you can, but Google won't use them.

first off if you are mirroring your search to content, your doing it completely wrong in the first place.

I highly recommend you do some research on content before continuing...

An echo of what others have said, it's never a good idea to have content and search active in the same campaign. Sure you can make it work, but it will never be as effective as putting search and content into separate campaigns. Managing separate campaigns may be a bit more work but when done right it will pay for itself every time.
