Considering using AdSense on my site

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by Paratus, May 12, 2007.

I have a website which I'm considering using AdSense on; however, I'll admit I'm completely new to it. I do understand web design/layout and ad placement, though, as I've been a web developer for about 10 years now.

My question is, as an estimate (of course), how much might I make on a gaming related website if it receives 1,000,000 unique page views per month? The site actually gets considerably more than that, but I thought it was a easy number to work off of. :)

I understand there are a lot of factors which can affect the payout with AdSense, so I'm just looking for a very rough idea. Assume that the site is highly SEO and ads are well-placed.

    Thanks!

What kind of game site is it? Google typically doesn't allow adsense on gambling and casino related sites.

If yours is a online game site then sure, you should be able to make some decent adsense income with 1,000,000 unique views. But the EPC might be very low for this niche.

The site has three primary focuses:
    1. MMORPGs (online video games)
    2. Web Development
    3. Web Hosting

I'd generally hope to get $2000+ a month at least. Would this figure be doable?

$2000/mth is possible but it means that you will need to bring in a lot of visitors to your site and they need to find the adsense advertisement more attractive to your site to want to click them and get out of your website.

There is no guarantees but as long as you bring in a high number of visitors, there is a probably they will click your ads. Make sure that you do not force anyone to click the ads as it would be in violations of the TOS.

Yup, at the end of the day, it's a numbers game. The more visitors you have, the higher the chance of them clicking on the ads.

Good luck and let us know how it goes;)

Yea... you could make some significant cash with that kind of traffic. Definitely give it a try with the Google ads and see how you do.

You might also consider contacting google directly for a premium deal which they offer to users who produce 2 million plus pageviews a month.

From what i know gaming sites have a low CPC , but with that amount of traffic it is almost impossible to say how much you can make.

Imagine a CTR of 2% with $0.20 per click... You will get $4,000 per month for 1 million page view :)

Of course, assuming great ads placement and relevant ads.

My experience is that page views don't convert to page impressions 1-to-1.

My site gets about 230,000 monthly page views but only has about 20,000 adsense impressions. In other words, approximately only 10% of page views result in page impressions. It's a big puzzle to me considering that all my pages have adsense ads.

So if only about 10% of page views result in page impressions, the above revenue estimate would be just $400/month.

you can earn a lot of money from those visitors, just blend the ads to your background color of your site and text! don't try to over optimize your ads, if people like the ads and they feel like clicking them they will do so from there free will, don't force anyway!

remember, adsense bans pretty quick, so read the rules properly before jumping into the programe,

i would rather suggest you to try the text link ads, i have used it in my blog, that would give you some knowledge and experience, after that you start adsense, it will sure help you in the long run!:)

A gambling related site will not be able to advertise on Adsense. Your site won't be approved

I don't believe he mean gambling sites but game sites as in MMORPG or Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games.

Why don't you get started right away and apply for an AdSense account and place the code on your pages to see how it performs for you? We can give you all the predictions but nothing beats actually testing it on your site.

    Good luck!

yeah it's no point just ask how much you would get. apply adsense and implement to your site and tell us how it goes. If you got low revenue we might can help to increase it. only ask will not help to to know how much you would really get. Good luck.
