    Hello,

Im trying to get information from one computer to another one. In short this is what i have done so far

    Desktop Computer is XP
    Labtop is Vista

Have lots of files on my desktop that would take a very long time to put on CD and then CD-labtop. So i went to transfer them via computer to computer.

Load up my Vista Machine i go to view all avaliable wireless connections i see the name of my desktop computer *me* so i click and connect.

The next thing that happens is it says " wiaitng for other users"

From here if i understand this corretly i should be able to see that computer and transfer files

    any help would be appreciated

You need to have the folders/files shared as well. I've never worked on Vista though so not certain on that part.

I have set the folders to share on both computers.

Im not really a networking person more of the programming type. So this simple thing is difficult for me

Have you checked your firewall and antivirus to make sure they accept connections?
Turn both off temporarily to see if that is the problem.

Both are on the same workgroup? Lots of possible reasons, sometimes it even takes a repair of the connection and or reboot ;)

That could be another possibility. By default, WinXP's workgroup is called MSHOME and Vista's is called WORKGROUP.
