One of my databases is on a server where my config file says the server is localhost. How do i connect to it from a different server.
In Cpanel - > Under MySQL -> At the very bottom there is a list of access hosts. Add the IP you wish to connect from to the list. When you connect from the other server simply add the IP you with to connect to instead of localhost.
Wow, is it really that predictable that everyone uses cPanel? I really dislike it. I dont get why its so popular. I switched immediately to Plesk once I used it. Its much nicer for UI and functionality is easier. This is the only function in Plesk that isnt available. Ironic I wonder why.
If the server is on that computer (localhost), you can connect from another server by referencing the server's name or ip Eralper
No you cannot, you need to configure MySQL to accept incoming connections from sites other than 'localhost'. FFMG
Correct. In order for MySQL to recognize your computer or other server, it needs to be added to the allowed ip's. If it is not, it will deny you access.
I have done that but the sad thing is this what come out ---> Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress. --Azfar
