Confusion With API key

    Hey I need a google API key but dont know how to get it?
    I went to code.google.com to get the API key but there are lots of other type
    of API key. I want API key to track my website. I Search a lot and find that Ajax API will be good choice.

    Can anyone provide me the perfect info that which API I choose. and how to sign up in that.
