Confusion With Ad Groups (Content)

    Hello Everyone,

I've been playing around with the content network with varying degrees of success for a few weeks now. Anytime I group my own list of keywords as google suggest, 5-20 keywords, similiar theme:
I typically never get many impressions. A few times recently I took my entire list of keywords and just used the grouper tool, which kind of groups kws into google's suggested type of groups (but sometimes there will be groups of 2 kws, sometimes groups of 200 kws with little similarity.) This gave me 3 or 4 ad groups that would perform spectacularly (100,000++ impressions) and over 100 ad groups that got < 50 impressions.

I've read google's official rules and suggestions along with a lot of other suggestions from websites, with no real help.

Anyone here have the unofficial suggestions for strong ad groups on the content network?
Does the name of your ad group make a difference? (should be similar to kw's inside)?
Keywords in the ad group should also appear in the actual ad?
Initial Ad group performance affect long-term ad performance?

Just throwing some questions out that I've run into while only advertising on the content network. Cheers!

The name of your adgroup does not influence anything. Keywords appearing in your ad variations will increase your quality score, lower your CPC and also help get shown before the other ads on that given website.

Obtaining a good CTR to begin with will ultimately help your performance in the future, so it may be worth to increase your CPC to begin with and then gradually lower it. It is also a good idea to target the websites that are more likely to do well for you (placements).
