Confusion on Dofollow Social Bookmarking

    Dear DP members,

I have seen many lists of "dofollow social bookmarking" sites in this forum and some other places.

From those lists, I usually find sites like "diigo/reddit/mixx/...", and these are surely nofollow sites, why would all the lists include them, and usually nobody responding to the thread point out the problem.

    Am I missing something

    Thanks,

Why worry about it? Its not hard to find dofollow sites, if you know - or think - something is nofollow, move onto the next, or go and fine your own.

Site admin's do change their link characteristics over a time.... and people simply do not care to update their list! :(
Btw... it is impossible to have someone or somebody dedicating his/her time and energy to be continuously doing such updation... from time to time!

    Regards,

I agree that there is no substitute for checking each individual site when you are preparing to submit your links to it. Navigate to a page on the site that contains links to other sites. If you are willing to learn how to recognize no follow tags, you can look at the source code for the page and see whether any are present. If the links do not contain the no follow tag, you may assume your links will be do follow as well. If you like things to be easy (like I do) there is an extension for the Firefox browser, called NoDoFollow. After you have installed it you can easily see the status of any link on the page you are viewing in the browser. They are color coded.

Google is your friend when looking for do-follow social bookmarking sites. Most lists are out of date pretty quickly once made and the only truly reliable list is the one that you have made yourself because it won't be spammed to death!

Do yourself a favor and get a SEO add-on for whatever browser you're using that will show what links are no-followed
