Hey gurus Can anybody please describe me? will google, yahoo, msn penalize my site if i copy all meta description and keywords from my competitiors website? It will be gr8 if somebody can discuss this issue in detail.
It is good practice that you watching your competitor closely, but it does not mean you copy their Meta Tags. What I think is not a good idea to copy exact meta tags. Because, every page is different from another. It may have chances that your page is different content than their. The possibilities are take the idea how they have constructed meta tags and again analyze your webpage. Are they related to your page, modify the meta tags according your page content. Google not penalizing for copying content from other website. But, It knows which one content is original and what comes first in his database. Your competitor might be report to google about stealing website content. The better will be to use customized/ modified meta tags for each and every page based on your page content.
It is not a bad practice but it is not fit for us because our pages and contents of page might differ from their site so probably there is no use of copy the same META tag values and your keyword density will vary.
Just shuffle the keywords here and there, change a bit of title and use it. No one will penalize unless you have exact copy.
As per as I know using too much of same Keywords with not allow you to crawl in spider . It can be hard for you to get position . Be careful.
Yes, If you are copying the metas of your competitor then it is also like duplicacy in the eye of Google. What you can do is to analyze what keywords your competitors are using and then make your own meta in your own words. You can use same keywords but try to make some difference.
