I was just searching google for "business directory"

in the top ranks i came across this URL.

    http://www.volta.net

Firstly i assumed phpLD, seems its not - he just used Zebs template (i dont see a footer link tho).

Next i see the directory has 200k+ active links. Yet i also only see a tiny 39 indexed pages.

I see 2200 only backlinks in yahoo. Thats pretty low. Unless this guy has secret backlinks from google.com domain, how the hell did he get ranked so high for such a large keyword with only a few backlinks and indexed pages. Whitehat SEO did it you think? hmmm

    your thoughts?

it wasnt a matter of its rank, more the reason how it got there.

Probably the same reason that some guy scraping my directory ranks higher in Google, and has copies of all my pages indexed, meanwhile mine are in supplemental...

Me thinks the algo is flawed.. ;)

I still see that site listed at #12 and also no links in the footer, I think that this is just a glitch.

Probably true, Google is losing all creditability as far as I’m concerned.

Dance my ass.. It's been this way for some time now.. Actually a DP user brought it to my attention some time ago.. I have sent DMCA's, went the attorney route, etc. So far, they have not responded..

I'm pretty close to bringing this scraper out in the open... I thought I would give them a chance to stop doing it first..

It still perplexes me to no end to find my own content in supplemental results, then find my own STOLEN content indexed quite well and not in supplemental.
