Hi All, Sorry I am pretty new to SEO and althought I understand linkbuilding is important I am a bit confused about how PR links in with this in regards to directories or sites with high home page PR but lower PR in the site. As some examples: Joeant.com - PR 5 Specific category (http://www.joeant.com/DIR/cat/10441/Graphic_Designers) - PR N/A Specific site (http://www.joeant.com/DIR/info/get/10441/44750) - PR 0 If I were to submit at a mich higher level (just arts and humanities rather than a category nested several levels under this) then the PR would be much higher, PR5 but I dont think a submission would be accepted for this? Now what I wanted to know is will there be any benefit listing my site if at the specific category level it has PR N/A and at the individual listing it has PR 0 but the top level home page (joeant.com) has high PR? A similar thing applies for a professional association I am thinking of joining that they have something like: Home (www.agda.com.au) - PR6 member directory (http://directory.agda.com.au/individual/brand-experience/brand-design/nsw) - PR4 members specific listing (can check any of the listings from previous URL) - PR N/A Both of the sites I have mentioned here will cost to list with so want to better understand if I will gainany PR from doing so Thanks in advance!
Main idea was around getting better rankings - or is PR irrelivant and should I just get backlinks from site regardless?
I have 2 quaility backlinks if you comment on the site ( PR 1+ and blogging tips niche) I hope not banned from DP http://www.vinnylingham.com/blogging-tips-for-beginners.html (PR 3) http://www.communityspark.com/10-ways-to-make-money-from-online-communities/ (PR 2) I hope it help you increase quality backlinks
You only benefit from pr if you're on a high pr PAGE. High pr site can have PR0 pages and if you're on them the links aren't worth diddly squataloony
Thanks for the clarification - I suspected that would be the case. Frustrating that a lot of sites have N/A PR but oh well! Cheers Chris
But do not confuse High PR with high authority. For example, even if the PR if a page is zero, if the domain is highly trusted then that link may pursuing.
