I am setting up my adwords campaign for my site www.footballforumc.co.uk.

The thing what I don't is why the minimum first page bid for "football forum" is 50p when there is no competition for the phrase. Shouldn't the minimum be 6p?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Most likely your quality score is low.

Also, apparently if the keyword is bid on by someone in another country it is still considered competition.

There is nothing like "the minimum should be" anything. The Adwords system is not completely predictable and various factors will affect your cost and bid.

How much are you actually paying per click?

Just because there's no ads doesn't mean you get the minimum bid. Adwords figured out that loophole a long time ago and they don't want to give people minimum bids on anything they can squeeze more money out of. So the quality score was born to take care of this. Now anytime you pay "extra" they say it's due to quality score. Genius of them, not good for us though.

The quality score is a joke. My site is a football forum called footballforums.co.uk and there is nobody else competing for the keyphrase from what i can see. SO why does it cost me 50p or say 75c to get listed?!!! I can't justify that sort of money for a click - I am only looking for forum members!!

    Contact Google and ask them.

Then let us know what they said.

Adwords is for business that are looking to make money. You never mentioned what your quality score was. If it's low you will pay more, period.

Somebody somewhere is probably bidding on that keyword any way.

Also, how much are you paying? Your actual cost will usually be lower than your bid.

Remember your bid and quality score are used to calculate your Ad Rank.

Without quality score people with more money would simply lock others out of the auction.

And things would be so much easier for spammers.

Quality score is your friend. It's good for you.

Whining about it will not make you money.

Contentboss is right. You can place a support ticket with Google, they’re the sole authority that could give you a more direct answer.

One thing you can do is to work with your content so it matches your ads better and let the keyword be a part of the ad text as well, make sure your text on your site is unique and not something you copied. That might give you a better quality score and a smaller bid price.

But you better get use to it. When you play with Adwords, those are the ones that set up the rules and their rules can be quite confusing from time to time.

dear football is most searched keyword type football in the target area and you will find your competitors adds.

Google always check the website landing page if it contains anything illegal content which don't pass the Google terms it got slapped by low quality score or even ad is banned.
i have checked your website it don't get any content it also be the reason you are getting slapped.
