Confused over domain links after directory submission

    Hi All,

I wanted to increase the link popularity of my website, so I opted for directory submission. Before submitting to directories, when i put my domain-name in google, it was showing around 500-600 results. Let me make it clear that i was just putting the domainname, e.g. "google" in the search.

After I submitted to around 250 directories and after a week's time, it suddenly grew to 35,000 results. I am confused as how can this be possible. I've just submitted to 250 general and some niche directories.

I am not sure if this is a good sign for my website or bad? My website link is in my sig.

    Any comment is highly appriciated.
    Thanks.

if you just put your domain name is SE, the result is unnecessary to be the back link to your site. It could be different search-result pages from one link directory. You need search "link:yoursite.com". but the problem is that google does not show all the back links of the site. yahoo or msn is much more reliable for checking back links.

    Hi,

Thanks for the information. I know google doesn't show up backlinks that quickly. I am waiting for the next backlink update now. :)

    Hey,

I am back to normal with my 550 links. I don't know what it was, may be a google dance...
