Confused on linkbacks

    I have been assuming that relevant link backs are better then link backs from places that have anything in common with your site.

    Can anyone tell me if I am on the right track with this?

    Yes...Relevant links are better instead of others....And relevant niche links + good PR....that would be much better...But don't try to get same PR links...

    while building your backlinks its better to link your site with related category and high page rank, because search engine gives it more weight and compare with non related websites.

    Yes, it is good. As if SE find your back link to your business relevant topic then it feels that you are providing right information to user for that particular subject or query.;)

    related site is much prioritize on building quality link. and to get high Pr as well.
