Stumbling is getting votes for your website on stumbleupon.com. It's a social network that shows the most popular websites by category and the sites with the most votes appears on the homepage. Has several cool features.

Digg is the same idea, but it's for specific content rather than an entire website. So if you create an article on your site, you can setup a Digg button for people to use to vote for your article. When enough votes are recieved, your article will start appearing in categories and possibly the homepage.

Getting on the front page of either site will drive potentially millions of people to your website. I can't say for stumble as I don't use it, but for Digg I've seen 50,000+ visitors in a few minutes of getting on the front page and the traffic keeps coming for several days.

My suggestion would be don't just stick with both of them while there are many good similar bookmarking sites are out there.

Just do a Google search for social bookmarking sites and you can find tons of them. I'd suggest you to go for something other than stumble upon and digg. They are unbelievably crowded with zillions of people trying to get their website on the front page, etc. In my opinion, Propeller and reddit are far better.
