hi, im a newbie at php. previously studied html last year and tried building sites and blogs using joomla as cms.

    >> im currently building an advertising site, with a forum in it.

    now my questions:
    1. i designed the theme of my site with dreamweaver8, and with the "wide variety of forums" like vBbulletin, smf, etc., i don't know which one is the best for a "wide variety of cms". i mean, which one works best for which?, in the case of an advertising site?

smf for drupal cms?, i don't know where to start, though im reading some php books and practice my codes through my dreamweaver site. i tried joomla forum extensions last month (while building a joomla based advertising site), and it seems that most, if not all, are still being developed, or still has bugs.

    2. what is the best open source cms for an advertising site? wherein registered members can post free advertisements?

    TIA

most forums come with a back end already. though as far as something to manage a website dedicated to advertising i would suggest something along the lines of what www.openads.org has to offer.

check their homepage or read the installation docs. surely it's the same as setting it up locally.
