Confused about the infraction process

Yes, I've read the sticky thread about infractions ;)

    Here's what happened:
    • I posted a thread in the "Freebies" section that contained a link to MY OWN WEBSITE. The link had a tracking ID (?tid=) url parameter that I use to track conversions from different forums. It was not an affiliate link but I see how an admin could think so.
    • The thread was deleted
    • I was given an infraction
    • AFAIK there's nothing I can do now, nobody I can even contact about this
So is my only option to re-post this thread without the tracking ID parameter?

    Seems really silly. I'm hoping there's a 2nd option. :(

Looks like you just got the wrong infraction (affiliate links / masked links are highlighted by default, and if we don't click on something else right sometimes we miss that). You may not repost. You may not advertise products or services related to social bookmarking here. That's why it was deleted. I'd change the infraction type for you, but then it would start from today (expire later), so it's best just to leave that alone unless you really want it changed.

Ok, thanks for the explanation :)

I wasn't aware of the social bookmarking rule.

Would you be so kind as to explain why that rule exists?

As far as I remember, a multiple account delicious and stumbleupon trend was up and it went a little bit crazy. People were submitting the same site with 100s of same accounts. It first started with hiring 10 different people to submit a site (which I did, I was paying a team that I organized to bookmark a site and I sold this package for a while) but then it went crazy, and some people just simply created 100s of accounts on their own and started to sell this service and bookmark sites with those accounts which was actually a pure black hat technique/spam to me.

Social bookmarking became a major spam issue as talvehtia said.
