I need help understanding exactly what text phrases I can put in my website. I'm in the process of building a tattoo shop website. I've been reading up on plagiarism, copywriting, etc because I don't want to get in trouble for using the same phrases another tattoo site may have used. There are only so many things you would say to describe your services and tattoo aftercare. Ive looked at many different tattoo websites and most all of them use the same wording and phrases. For example, when explaining the aftercare procedure after you get home after you get a tattoo done, they ALL say to wash the area gently and then to "Gently pat your tattoo dry with a paper towel." And these are all tattoo shops that are on Googles first few pages of search results. Since they all use that exact phrase, isn't that plagiarism?? There are 3 pages of websites that used the phrase "We specialize in all kinds of tattoos". So what gives?
it’s perfectly acceptable to use generic phrases that describe common practices in the tattoo industry. However, focusing on creating unique content that reflects your brand’s identity will not only help you avoid any concerns related to plagiarism but also improve your SEO and engage your audience more effectively. Make your website a reflection of your unique style and approach within the tattoo community.
The key is to focus on your unique voice while some common phrases might be unavoidable (like aftercare instructions), you can add your personal touch or story to set your shop apart. Think about what makes your shop special and weave that into your descriptions; it’ll help create a unique online presence that reflects you and your art.
Keep in mind that your tattoo shop is geographically constrained to a circle with a radius that tattoo seekers will find reasonable to travel to. Any other tattoo shop outside of that radius will not care much about you at all, including what you say on your website. That said, it is best practice to differentiate your website's content when and where you can. Your approach to content should be to show why your services are different and better than the other local shops. That attitude and approach will also help to steer you away from any plagiarism or copyrighting problems.
Common phrases like that won't be an issue. Write the content yourself and if there's overlapping then there's overlap. Focus on making the instructions your own as earlier posters have mentioned and you'll be OK.
This is definitely an interesting point! When it comes to describing standard procedures like tattoo aftercare, similar phrases are often used, and this isn’t always considered plagiarism since they are common instructions. Problems can arise if you simply copy text from another site without changes. Try to rephrase your service descriptions in your own way, adding a unique style or more details to avoid copying and improve your SEO.
