I've been searching the forums and reading on CJ's site and am getting more and more confused. What is Commission Junction? If I want Ebay ads on my site, why do I need to go through CJ? Do I need to sign up for both Ebay ads and CJ? I have also seen Amazon ads running through CJ...are they just like a control center for all types of ads? I would like to add some ads to my site (either Ebay or Amazon) but don't know where to start. Do they both pay out the same or is it all run through CJ and they payout? Sorry for all the questions; just trying to get my facts straight. Thanks in advance!
it's so complicated man . I once signed up with them and just got lost in the holy mess and I don't even remember the login name and the password for it
Yes, to be an eBay affiliate you do need to join Commission Junction (CJ). Commission Junction is a type of clearing house for connecting advertisers with website publishers. To place ads from the advertisers that CJ represents you first need to register with CJ. You fill in the usual type of information including info about your website(s) and receive a CJ number (your PID). Note that CJ collects all the commissions you earn from the various advertisers you have joined and pays you directly. After you have registered with CJ, you can then apply to join the affiliate programs for various advertisers including eBay. Each advertiser has different acceptance policy and you won't be accepted by every advertiser, but eBay tends to accept most people who apply. Note that each advertiser has is own Commission rates. Once you are accepted by eBay through CJ, you can use the banner and links available at CJ to advertise eBay. Or... If you want actual eBay products (auction items) to appear on your website, you need to get a script that pulls item listings off of eBay and includes your CJ PID. There are various ways to get such a script for your site. Here are a couple of examples of how scripts are used. You can build a complete website by purchasing the BANS script. Check out BANS by clicking here: BANS. Or you can join a free program that places eBay ads on your site such as Auction Ads. Check out Auction Ads by clicking here: Auction Ads. Of course, there are many other eBay scripts or other ways to get eBay products on your website, out there. Check out what other people do, here at DP. Amazon has its own affiliate program, you must register with Amazon's affiliate program to get Amazon products on your site. Check out the Amazon section here DP for more information.
CJ is just a big mess. I had a meeting with CJ director in London and she is a horrible person. I never felt so bad in my life. I would never work in that company in my life. Just posting my true experience. Like all the people thre are brainwashed by director that is a small dictatorship like woman need of having a super ego. Horrible
I understand your feeling, but just because you had a bad experience, it doesn't mean that it's bad to others. Imagine that the director fall in love by you, if that happened, you would be here saying "i love CJ" Don't get me wrong, but all my life i saw that type of directors/chiefs/etc., and the companies are still alive, healthy and rich like i would like to be.
Yes. It's that simple You sign up with CJ, then sign up with advertisers (e.g eBay) from within CJ. 10/10 for trying
Alright, that does clear up some of my main questions. Thanks! Now it is just on to the decision...I do not need nor want BANS. I already have a site and would just like to incorporate a page where people can buy products of my niche. I like how the BANS sites look and would like my ads to be formated how those are. This is the basic format of the ads that I want: http://www.harrypotterbuffs.com/ (sorry, just some random site). How do I do this? I did some research on phpBay Pro and that looks nice but are there any free ones? I've looked around but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I don't understand why this is so complicated. You have to sign up with eBay, then with Commission Junction, then you have to find software to make your ads...sigh...Is there an easier way to do this?
CJ is a method for promoting a huge amount of very reputable "big name" companies. I love it because I can find a product/website in almost any niche to promote through CJ. I also love being able to easily promote big name products/companies. Yes it can be a little complicated learning how it works at first, but it's worth the learning curve imo.
I looked at bans but I didn't really like it, I chose to go straight through eBays publishing suite instead - I had my own site and ideas though and BANS isn't for me. I'm currently trying Widget Bucks and eBay auction listings on my site, the results are pretty cool, I'm making more through widget bucks though - eBay was just a good content filler and catches the eye of visitors. I 100% agree that CJ isn't Newb friendly for people like myself just wishing to sell for eBay, I am hoping that eBay decides to go like Widget Bucks and independant.
CJ is simply an affiliate scheme, signup, join a advertiser and display their ads on your site. Job done?
Ummmm No (Monged) ! If only it was that simple, may be that simple for some of the programs but not for eBay - I'm not sure about the other programs as I only use eBay.
I guess this would be easier if I just signed up and snooped around but I don't know for sure if I want to do CJ and eBay. So if I sign up with both, does CJ allow you to change the format of your eBay ads? What kind of ads are they? Are they the "ad units" like Adsense or can I have lists of them like the BANS sites? Anyone have an example site of what they look like coming straight from CJ and eBay?
eBay through CJ is quite confusing at first. But it's very flexible once you have it all figured out.
Once you have a CJ account, then you apply to eBay. Once you are accepted by them, you can go to eBay's affiliate site and there are many tools there you can use to add individual auctions to your site or create a RSS feed to have many auctions show up on your site. You can check out the simple RSS eBay feed I put on one of my sites here: http://www.nvo.com/nocover/guitarauctions/
CJ and Ebay works great. I have already earned something for a 7 day old site though its not that substantial yet. I know it will be. And Im using PhpBay Pro as it works seamlessly with wordpress.
