Hi, I'm missing some vital info - I've studied adwords quite a bit but - I hear people talking about getting 1,000 keywords for a campaign and creating 1000's of adgroups with this list. If CPC is 0.5cents, then even using a fraction of these will result in huge costs. With 1 keyword can you post many adgroups onto adwords and just pay for that 1 keyword? Also I've heard e.g. set a daily budget of $5 dollars per 50 keywords - I don't understand the implications of this statement. Is the daily budget $5 x 50 keywords = $250 ? Any insight would be most appreciated, many tks, jazzcrystals.
Most of those people with thousands of adgroups can afford to use them Try to concentrate on the ones that would convert best for ya.
jazz, your budget can defined on a campaign basis. So, regardless of whether you have 1 keyword, or 1,000 keywords, as long as you set a reasonable daily budget, you'll never get a surprise bill from Google. Figure out which keywords are related, put them in similar ad groups, bid on the most important ones a decent amount, lesser ones a lesser amount. Most of the accounts I manage have anywhere from 8-15 campaigns, each with about as many ad groups, but there's no need for you to start with this size. Again, logically organise, separate into distinct groups, bid on importance, and budget on how much you can afford ... you won't go wrong!
Start out small. I usually use a $50/day minimum budget. Anything less will usually not get much traffic. Once you find some converting keywords, you can branch them out.
