Hi. I have been using DigitalPoint's Keyword Tracker for awhile now. I understand that there are different datacenters, so that is why the results may look different from what I see on a search on the Google website. But, it's been many many months and I still haven't seen my website listed anywhere under 75 for the keyword "family history". I check everyday at different times, but I never see the DP result. The DP tool keeps showing it much lower (30-45). Currently, it shows the site listed at 29. But, I see it at 62 today. I posted on another forum and got some feedback. No one saw it at the 29 mark. It was either 62-75 for those that checked in Pennsylvania, California, and Canada. I just need some confirmation at this point. Does ANYONE see my genealogy site listed at 29 for family history? Were in the world is that showing? Thank you.
I just did a search with PRSearch and you showed #67. I just did a search with McDar and you showed #66.
What's the exact URL/keyword combo you have entered in the keyword tracker that you think it's reporting wrong?
Hi. I have the following on the tool: Keyword: family history URL: http://www.ancestralbranches.com It shows Rank: 29 Thank you. Melanie
I just checked the Keyword Tracker with the information from your post [family history/http://www.ancestralbranches *com] and it came up #67
Thank you Jeffrey. This is really important to me because "family history" is my 2nd main keyword for Ancestral Branches. So, I really need to know where the site stands. And, especially with Christmas sales coming around the corner quickly....
If you go to your preferences on your account, what do you have the Language and Country Restriction settings set to?
Hi Shawn. It has the following: Restrict Ranking to Single Country: United States Restrict Ranking to Single Language: English
Hi Shawn. I'm not sure I understand. I want to know what ranking my site is listed in Google for people who live in the United States. I don't care much about what the other countries see. So, shouldn't I have it set for USA and English. Wouldn't that show the results that we get when we use Google here in the USA? I read the FAQ again. You wrote, "The country restriction is what the International versions of Google use by default." If I remove the restrictions will I get results from all the countries and all languages? Well, I'm going to try as you suggested. And, see if that matches. UPDATE: Shawn, Hi. I change my prefs to no restriction for country and language. Then, I ran my Check All. Saw lots of changes. Some keywords dropped a little and some gained a few spots. But, get this. It shows my site still at 29 for family history. So, I still have the problem. What do you think it could be?
I'm not sure what the restriction to USA will do, but restricting search results to English will pull up the results you would get if you did an advanced search on Google and restricted those results to English. I guess not many people to that (I rarely bother unless a high proportion of my first result is in dutch or somesuch).
So, I changed my settings as suggested. I ran a Check All again this afternoon. Well, for a person who doesn't swear much, I'm glad none of you could hear me a few minutes ago. I thought my website was doing so well in rankings. Ha ! I have never seen such HUGE losses before. Out of 65 keywords about 25 dropped. Some off the planet apparently. Others only about 70 spots ! Oh, and "family history" is now showing at 80 on the DP tool. Well, I guess I need a major link campaign with lots of keywords. Oy vay. What a day I've had today.
