Given the disbursement of directory owners and the money required to travel to a directory event I thought that a "conference call" hosted by webex or the like might be a good idea. There have been few threads discussing there creation of a directory organization or collective. Why not present the opportunity for all of us to get together "virtually"...after all...that's were most of us live anyways Just a thought. Tim
How about this ... http://www.skype.com/help/guides/conference.html Skype is free (so they claim) but I've never tried it. Anyone have experience? Good idea BTW
I'm not sure. There are thousands of directory owners so the call would have to have a limit. So far as time to setup...I think for starters...just an "agenda" and a date & time would suffice. If there's real interest, I would be happy to do some research. I just thought this would be a great way for many to meet If this does materialize, we could possibly meet quarterly or even twice a year.
@ErectADirectory I don't have skype but it looks like a good option. FreeConference.com also looks like an option. Like many other "free" sites...it's not. The cost would be .10/person per minute. So for an hour it would be $6 per directory owner. Maximum capacity is 150 which is too many in my opinion. Probably should be kept to max of 50. The meeting can be recorded for free so the "minutes" or notes could be published for all to read. This could happen and would atleast be fun. Again, if theres interest then make it known
I have skype. It is 100% free all over the world and is great. But for conference call it only allows 5 people max. (unless there is an upgrade version that I do not know about) Thanks.
Don't you guys know Skypecasts? I have Skype and I use it a lot.I use Skypeout too, pretty cheap with great sound quality!
Skype is only free is very limited area codes now from what I heard. It does not work for me now unless I pay.
So if this were to happen...what should be discussed? The obvious few: PR, PR, and PR Beyond the juice - issues like design, the future, promotion, etc would be a good start. I'm not suggesting that we all tell our best kept secrets...only suggesting that we communicate in ways we're not accustomed to...like directly. EDIT: Before someone turns this into a "why worry about PR thread"...I was just kidding
What could possibly be discussed that couldn't be discussed right here? And seeing as we are all in different time zones, who will be attending @ 3 am? Good idea but I cant see it being realistic...
11:00 AM EST (my timezone) It is 11:00 PM in India, and 8:00 AM in California. I think that is the perfect time, not too late for those in india, not too early for us in the good ol' US of A.
I think it would be cool to put a voice behind that avatar and many times i cant say what i want with emotion in text thx malcolm
