Just wondering, do you wear glasses or need them? And do you wear them because of the computer or something else. I've been using the computer almost every day for around an average of like 6 hours a day for the past 3 years. I can see alright but things far away get sorta blurry and I have trouble reading things far away especially in class if I sit at the back. I used to have a CRT monitor for like the first 2 years, then I got one of those anti-glare screens on it and had it for like 1/2 a year. And since like last year I've been using an LCD monitor. I heard CRT's give off more UV rays or w/e type of rays that damage your eyes more. Is that true? So and LCD would cause less damage to your eyes than a CRT? Also for those that do use the computer a lot everyday but can still see fine and don't need glasses, how do you keep your vision good? Do you use some special monitor or something or w/e?
I don't think it matters if it's CRT or LCD. Because I know this guy who has a CRT and has been using his computer average 8-10 hours a day for the past 5-6 years and he says he has 20/20 vision. So I guess it just depends on the person I guess. Or it might not even be the computer, probably something else that caused it.
I was 'blind' way before I sat in front of computers for 17 hours a day and come to think of it it's not 17,more like 4.47.
I worked in front of my computer for nearly five years before I had to wear prescription lenses. I fully believe it was the computer work that ruined my eyesight; along with my bad computing habits (not resting my eyes every hour, not blinking nearly enough). I too am now near-sighted; can't see a thing over 15 feet away. My prescription is not really strong, however. Practice good computing habits to save your eyes and your body. I sell ergonomic furniture and computer accessories, which serve the needs of people, who've not practiced good computing habits - or people, who are ready to get serious about preventing such things as loss of eyesight, carpal tunnel syndrome, and other repetitive stress injuries caused / aided by working in front of a computer full-time.
ive been using my pc for about 3-5 years and no problems with eyes, 20-20 vision. doesnt seem to effect me now, hope not in the future.
I've been using computers 6-8 hours a day for the past 4 years say, and recently i've had trouble focusing on things far away, I can't read a number plate at anything more then 10m for example, im 22. Not sure if its something to do with staring at the computer closeup all the time, so my eyes have adjusted to close focus rather then far.. Will be seeing an optician soon.
