Hi, At the moment I have the following hardware AMD Athlon XP 2800+ [2.1Ghz] Radeon 9500 Pro [128MB] 1GB RAM 500GB Hard Disc K7VT4APro [Motherboard - ASRock] 15 inch LCD monitor Now I have a bit of money for some new hardware [£170-LOL this is my 170th post as well!] I am considering getting either 22 inch LCD Monitor [£110] OR AMD X2 2.7Ghz M2N68-AM [Motherboard - Asus] 4GB RAM Saphire 4650 512MB [1GB Hypermemory] I can afford one of the two and will buy the other upgrade in Late October Which do you reckon I should buy first? PS. Also I have a Xbox 360 attached to the monitor as well, so my Dad is suggesting a new monitor will be more worthwhile.
Your current PC specifications look fine for me. I'm with your dad, get the monitor first. You can get the new hardware that you want with much less price in October. - Dynashox -
Which brand LCD you are going to buy ? ASUS ? or Sony ? I love ASUS LCD's... They simply look great. - Digital -
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159417 or maybe http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/st...m=null&tm=null&sku=290081&category_oid=-35052 as our local PC World is selling it at £120
Get the monitor, it is far better to have better visual than faster comp, you can always buy the other bits seperately at a later date as well, plus computer parts are constantly lowering in price, but the monitor price will be steady.
I'm still happily using an Athlon 2800+ and 1GB RAM as my main desktop PC. I jumped off the upgrade bandwagon many years ago I guess it all depends on what you use your PC for. But, I say go for the monitor
I agree with the previous answers. Increasing the processor speed will not significantly change anything. However, if you have the cash i would certainly double the memory as well, that will be a noticable improvement. AND, replace ALL of the current memory. That is remove and dispose of what you have and buy 2GB of compatible new memory for your specific machine.
If you use your computer for basic functionality then i prefer you to buy monitor as you play games too in it using your xbox, bt if you give more work to your processor then upgrade your cpu first. It all depends on your usage.
Go for Monitor Dude.....But only buy 22" Full HD Monitor only. Latest on upgrade your PC config. but at this time just go for a new Monitor....
