Computer Science Majors

For those of you who majored in Computer Science in college, how was it? I've heard that many students stay up all night programming or spending most of their time in the library as it is not a major for the faint-hearted as programming is quite a difficult concept to learn especially for beginners.

Also many web developers, people who mess around with websites (just html, css, design, etc.) who go into Computer Science thinking it would be the same field of interest but it seems like the concept and path is quite a bit more different and challenging is it not?

I'm not exactly a com science major, but an electronic major. However, these two fields are not much different. Programming is a never ending quest, no matter how much time you devote in it, there's always plenty left to explore. So yeah, I stay awake late at night, hunting down those puny bugs to slaying gigantic logical errors..

As far as learning the programming goes, I believe either you are a programmer, or you are not. It's something you can not learn, if you don't have it. Why? Because programming needs a heck of logic and reasoning capabilities, and not everyone has that kind of capability. But if your logic is good, your reasoning is outstanding, you can become a top notch coder.

Ohh, HTML/CSS is not even a programming language. Before picking up com science you gotta ask yourself, do you love math? Can you ditch your girlfriend to get married to math? Can you spend your whole life simply dreaming about Calculus, Algebra and Trigonometry? If your answer is yes, then you are heading towards the right direction. If your answer is no, then STOP! Slowly take 2 steps back, turn around, and run as fast as you can. Going any forward with Com Sci. will only make your life hell!

    It's fine.
No different than any other engineering field. Maybe even any other major.
That's why beginners go to school.
Anyone who thought that didn't investigate the field and were childish. @The Webby is correct.
