Computer help please.

Ok so here's the problem. My mom gave me her computer recently since mine died and I was trying to download Filezilla so I can start working on my blog. However, when I try to install Filezilla it says it needs a password with the username Administrator to be able to install correctly. However, from what my mom could recall she was the "Administrator" under the name Brenda-PC. However, that isn't the case here and I have no idea how to get into the password.

Is there any way I can fix this or by-pass this?

    Any help is DEEPLY appreciated.
    Thanks all.

Press F8 before apprearing the booting screen

then you should go to the safe mood and run computer in that mood

there will another administrator account from where you can remove the password of the other admin accounts if there also exists the password

then you have to install the other copy of windows

What version of windows? I am assuming it is xp, if it is not this process will be a little different. You might have to use a tool to boot into it.
If you are going to install another copy of windows, you don't need the password, just load into the setup and erase the drive.

If your mum doesn't need it any more, why not just format it, reinstall your OS, and start from scratch?
After all, it's YOUR computer now :)
I couldn't think of anything worse that taking over one of my parents computers, and using their original OS install.

No need to reinstall your OS, you only need to create new account by administrator level.

I prefer to make changes to your admin user account by going to Control Panel and find the settings of user accounts! or you can do one thing more doing right click on My Computer go to Manage! then user drop down menus in a tree based on left find Users! then it will display list of users and associated privileges!!

I hope it may work for you!

Fresh copy of windows can fix it for sure, or try with running as administrator.

But to create a new administrator account, he needs to be logged in as a administrator right? he says he couldn't log in with that account

I would reinstall and start anew that way you don't have any residual stuff on there.
