Computer doesn't start

Everything gets power, lights come on, i hear a disk spinning, and then two clicks. Nothing comes on the screen, in fact, the monitor is black and the power light is yellow on it.

I looked around, and noticed that the 'busy' light on the hard drive was continually lit, and didn't go off.

Do you think I have a hard drive problem? or something else?

The computer had got left out in freezing weather. No expected water damage, as it was safe. Do you think the cold go to it?

it could be a combination of things I suppose. do the 2 clicks come from the HD? probably not a good sign if the light and disk spins forever though...

even if there was no water damage per say, could some of the components been subjected to condensation? having gone from cold to warm is never a good thing :(

Then again, even if the HD was bad, shouldn't it post to bios? which leads me to believe that the HD isn't the only thing amiss

ultimately you'd like to have a spare HD kicking around to pop in and see what happens. that would be the easiest way to determine what's going on with the HD IMO.

if that's not possible then I'm not sure what else to tell you  go find a good HW forum ;)

well, if your CPU is on but nothing appears on your screen, totally black, then the memory of your PC is the problem... perhaps try to clean it first. Make use of a white eraser, or any erasers to clean up the memory.. Do it like your just erasing something on a paper... you know?... maybe there's just some dust or something .. hope it helps you..

The monitor power light shouldn't be green or light green?, perhaps the problem is your monitor, if you can try with other monitor.
