I have made a site layout through Photoshop with many slices, but my website is loading very slowly. What is the best way to compress images to make them load faster?

I have also changed them to gif from jpeg to speed it up a little.

Slicing PSDs is a great way to make a crap site.

Try using JPEGs at around 70-80% - depending on the image content (File>Save for web...). Or you can use PNGs, but that probably won't help the filesize issue much.

Photoshop is for making images, not websites. Code your sites by hand, use images only when CSS won't work, and reuse your images (borders/gradients/bgs) whenever possible. :)
