Comprehensive Incentivised Site Guide?

    Hey,

I'm a total newcomer to affiliate sites (spend most of my time in contextual), and incentivized sites have sparked my interest.

Does anyone have a link to a very comprehensive guide on the subject? Or maybe even a book? I found this, but it isn't too explanatory.

    http://www.myeasyscripts.com/en/products/projekt-irs/demo/admin/index.php

    Some basic questions I have:
    • How do I guarantee a profit with a referral based site, even if it requires one offer to be completed, when the payout is a free iPod or something but the CPA is only like $20?
    • Do I need to manage the iPod (or whatever prize) inventory myself? Or are there simple ways to just dropship it?
    • How much advertising (adwords?) is required for these types of sites?

Basically what I would like is a very comprehensive guide or book somewhere. Oh and, how much potential do sites like these have? I imagine they take a fair bit of advertising.

    Thanks!

EDIT: I just saw this (article here) and that made me wonder about a lot of things...has anybody had any experience with a site like this?

There are several and many different "incentive" models. If you plan on using the one or similar as described above - then go to: http://www.freepay.com. This is a Gratis company, I believe. If I remember correctly, they'll help you set everything up - for a cost.

Think about your incentive model and what you want to use and/or go with. Do you want to offer the Gift scenario or do you want offer the cash, rewards, points, etc...?

My 2 cents is that consumer are sick-to-death with incentive programs. I'm starting to think and believe another angle in going to have to be developed, marketed and put in place. Consumers have "caught-on" to the incentive gimmicks.

I, for one, am taking a totally and completely different perspective and angle..., one that doesn't have anything to do with "incentives".

agree with somethings mentioned above. I've been searching for some different incentive based scripts and see a lot of competition and issues with incentive based programs. Rebex helped me via a PM and greatly appreciate his input. Acquiring customers and email addresses are a premium and publishers are paying $$ for this information. But is an incentive type system the answer? Get me 5 referrals and i'll give you a product?
