Complicated Cookie Placement- Vendors..

This post may sound complicated, but please try to read carefully.

I noticed a large related vendor using my hoplink last month ago.. He raked up 1000's and 1000's of hoplinks in clickbank analytics, but never sent 1 physical visitor..

I would see my counter recognize the hit, but over 50,000 clicks and not even 1 visitor clicked through to any links.. It was totally useless traffic...

I went to his vendor site, and studied the code. He had me on an exit iframe. But when I exited the page, I never saw my link, never was forwarded to my store, and nothing poped up atall, but yet my counter recognized and recorded my visit..

I repeated this test on 5 different computers, no popup blocker, mozilla, IE, and all other variables. Each time my page never came up, but clickbank and my counter recorded a hop....

I was confused, so I blocked his IP with Cpanel...

Now, looking back, I think I know what they were doing...

They were setting a cookie without sending a visitor, so when that person researched other websites selling the same products, they would get the sale credit because they set the cookie....

I don't like this.. The other vendor didn't recommend my product or allow his visitors to see my page, but just incase they find me with a search engine, they want to secure the sale..

This would cause a loss in money, because I would get full credit for the sale for an organic non referred visitor, but these guys are cooking everyone without sending visitors..

I may be wrong, but this may be something to watch out for..
