Completely Changing Website. Question about already indexed pages.

    Hi,

I will be completely re-doing a website -- the whole structue. What would be best thing to do with the already indexed pages (so as not to hurt the pagerank)? I don't want to leave the pages on my server because eventually I hope to sell the website (without the old pages).

Plus, I don't want the new owner to get dinged because of the old pages.

    Thanks,
    Manx

If you keep the same URL/webpage names, the pages will still remain indexed (spiders will update the content soon though). PR is left unaffected if you keep the same domain name.

The pages should be about the same topic or keywords also. If you keep the same urls and links site will be fine.

    Thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately, the url's will be completely different. What I need is for it to be like a clean fresh start.

I think I will just take it offline for a month or so and keep checking what's indexed.

I'm afraid to ask Google to de-index it, cause I don't know how long that request stays in Google & I Do want it to be re-indexed once the new site is up.
