I have a website that is about 1 year old. What is happening is that I am on the 1st page of Google, #2,3 or 4 for a few days, then I am completely gone. Now What Makes this Very Interesting is that it has been happening for around 8 MONTHS NOW! OVER AND OVER.... Any suggestions or ideas why??
... Meaning it comes to the #2,3, or 4th position on Google then disappears, then is back a few days later etc....
May be you have used duplicate content. Your left the work to promote this site. Because competition is increasing day by day.
google dancing is a problem .. google often fluctuate the serp and the respective results on the page... if you do the continuous seo then u will surely overcome the situation which u are facing now.
This was due to googles caffeine update of 2009 which let them index content very rapidly . That meant their inventory got filled more often and hence the ranking fluctuated a lot . Now they have realized that is resulting in a lot of crappy sites are getting indexed too fast so the most welcome panda update in 2011 which lays importance on "well researched content with stats/graphs/ infographics" in short - awesome quality from the point of view of a real human . An hence the flipping and shuffling of the URL positions . Happening with a lot of my sites . Earlier I was raning for "seo tips" now that term has gone far behind and now ranking for link building related posts like 'how to make a link bait that goes viral' and 'how to market your blog virally' , if you drop the long tail 'how to' still it ranks on page 1 but a few positions down and this fluctuation is the only thing that is static . However I was able to rank the homepage properly for 'SEO tips for business blogs' . Its bringing in some solid consistent traffic .
J_data, are you still pushing through with SEO or are you letting it sit while this rides out? How old is your site? Just wondering.. I do figure that eventually doing some SEO will help it to pull through.
google dancing, i suppose. i think that google's new algorhytm made pretty damage to all...but it wont last long...we must use on it
SEO experts are no longer experts and that is a long overdue development. Content developers who have listened to the old experts will now be regretting it as their articles, webpages and blog entries disappear from Google SERPs. I'm finding that quality content I published years ago and didn't rank and therefore didn't attract traffic is now being discovered. All you have to do is put yourself in Google's position. Why would they want cr*p at the top of their SE? Eventually, if they didn't act to change it, people will stop googling.
I still wouldn't expect a site at Page #1 to suddenly drop in rank and then shoot back up so quickly. What's the point of doing the SEO work for page one if newly indexed sites are going to drop the site to page 3 because of a bad algorithm?
