I just finished an upgrade of the software I'm running on my cart site. I decided to do a complete redesign of the site while I was at it. Please check out the new look at http://www.mari-len.com. Anyone who's seen the site before will notice a big difference. I look forward to reading your opinions.
I was expecting see pictures on the index page but I dont see any. Add some pictures. Also, try to regitr a domian name without a slash. Slashes are really bad for a domain name cause they aren't phoneti nad people forget to put them in. Since your site doesnt have much sales or traffic, it wouldnt hurt to change the domain name.
I agree with the previous comment - the home page lacks images. I would also ease up on dark pink - try making it a few shades lighter. I also think your text-only menu isn't as nice as the previous one was with bullets. You might also better separate your site from the ad links at the bottom - something like "Olsztyn, wiadomości, informacje, nowości" looks a bit strange when it blends in style with skirts and blouses. Use UTF-8 encoding to avoid non-Latin characters in your ads displayed as they are now. J.D.
I like the color (I am color blind, but I like it), however it seems a bit much. I mean, again, I like it (it works IMHO) but it kinda blasts the eyes. Maybe too much solid color? Other than that, looks nice.
IMO it looks good. I like the colour, and the layout..... But as someone already said It lacks images. Add some pictures
Ok, I'm starting to feel a consensus here. The color is a bit much, and there aren't any pictures. It's ironic that I kinda did that on purpose, but I'm big enough to recognize that I might be wrong about that. I have to do some coding to fix a problem inherent with the way zen-cart does links, (spiders don't like them), but when I'm done with that I'll make some changes along the lines of the above suggestions and see where it leads. Thanks for your input!
Maybe use a paypal cart system. People know paypal and trust it more. And add pictures as stated before.
Paypal cart? Gee, my site has always used paypal. Anyway, I've added the pictures as suggested. I'm not sure of the way I did it, let me know what you think.
Much better. One thing to mention is the size of the images appearing on the index page. You are using true-color PNG's and, say, your clothes.png image is about 45 KB. If you save this image using a custom palette, it will be only half this size, about 20 KB, without much quality (see the attachment). J.D.
Thanks everyone for all the great input so far. J.D., I hadn't realized those file where that big. I was a bit distracted when I made them. I changed them to jpegs with only about 15% compression. That seems to have shrunk them down to arount 10-12k and not given up much, if any quality.
