I managed to get a domain then a hosting service to host my domain. Now I installed WordPress, but am having trouble learning how to design my site. I'm trying to design a one page blog entry that includes an intro/bio side bar for a testimonial for a product. Can someone please give a n00b some pointers on how to do this?
Yeah, I understand the concept of themes/layouts. It's the issue of editing the sidebar for content. I am in DIRE need of help with starting a review/testimonial LP! Help me out fellow DP'ers!
Are you just having an issue with the sidebar and you want to add a section that has testimonials etc? If that is your issue, I would download a free WP Theme that is widgetized...you can do a search in google, then there is a widget that you can activate in your design that is called "text", you can put whatever text you want in there, you can even put html in there if you want. I hope that helps.
It's best to choose a template first and then access the faq's and forums for that particular template, because they are all different.
Cool, I got the sidebar to work! So my question is now, I want to do an LP that has a one page POST about a TESTIMONIAL on a product! How do I do that so my web address will stay the same without any alterations? Also, how do I edit text size at each post? Alter the color of the title of a post? Thanks again for so much help guys!
What can I read or access that will explain tome the code that is used to manipulate a wordpress blog theme, such as changing the color, the fonts, creating a left side bar, etc?
I understand your difficulties. My web course is specifically designed for people like you. In an effort to get testimonials, I'm accepting 10 people to test run my course for free. Please apply if you are interested. Here are the details.
Yeah, its best to get a theme. Designing is great and all but Content is King you need to get your site up first worry about the layout later.
I got help the other day at DP with changing the color of my titles of my post. Go to you stlye.css and look for the following. h2.postTitle { padding: 0 10px; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold; color: #000; } h2.postTitle a { font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; color: #000; letter-spacing: -1px; } I changed the #000 to 000ff fo make my titles blue instead of black.
