I want to set up forum.
But first i have to take domain name.
    then hosting
then licence of vB + advertising in niche.
But i haven't any idea why ppl prefer costly domain name registrars like $9 or $7.75 per domain name. Why they don't sign up with netfirms for $4.95.
What kind of hosting package is suitable for forum websites.Forums where nearly 500-1000 visitors are expected / day.
    Thank You.

The difference between $4 and $9 isn't that much in the grand scheme of things, say with the other costs of running a site. Most really dont care how much it costs as long as they are a good registrar and are able to manage all thier domains in one spot.

You could easily spend $5 in one hour on advertising, and extra $5 a year is really nothing.

    Absolutely Right.
I am not caring about $5.But i want to ask about the difference between Netfirms and other's services.
Which hosting plan should i consider?
    Disk Space
    Bandwidth etc.
If you know about any good forum host kindly recommend me.
    Thank You.

I think you can host your website with any hosting company. There are not special forum hosting companies.

    I wonder really?
Certainly you have written it twice.
New info for me that forums are not space savvy, they are bandwidth savvy.

Well there's only so much you can do to cut down on the size of a database with 420,000+ posts. :) I could disable a post caching mechanism to save 50MB, but the 50MB of space is worth the extra speed for me.

I don't think "savvy" is the word you want there. Even when used correctly, it's a damned annoying word, but you're not using it correctly.
