Complete and utter noob

Im starting from the very beggining with CSS as I want to start designing my own websites using it in the future for some ventures I have planned and was wondering if anybody knows of any good sites that have some basic guides or lessons that have ranging levels ie begginer intermediate etc. All the sites I've found run off way to quick into harder stuff for my liking.

Also if you have any tips or tricks that you think I should know straight off the bat then i'd be happy to hear them.

Thanks in advance for any help you can send my way :)

Yes this is a great site:
    http://www.tizag.com/beginnerT/
Start from the begginer, even if it seems like it's stupidly easy, it'll explain the basics for you, from creating your very first webpage, to more detailed aspects. So run through the begginer tutorial, then the HTML tutorial then the CSS tutorial. (Just click the continue button it takes you through step at a time)
Make sure not only to read it but to try the examples out, so you keep up to date. You can easily run through these basics in 1-2 sittings at a computer.

    Other useful resources/lessons/tutorials:
    http://www.htmldog.com/
    http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp

Then when you know how HTML and CSS works (the sites will give you a solid foundation), try to create some layouts and get feedback on how to use effective techniques that are used (e.g lists for menus, div's for layouts). Be careful when it comes to this part because there are a lot of old articles that say use tables for layouts etc..which provide bad advice

P.S a great tip for modern web development: HTML is for the markup and CSS controls the presentation of the page.

Thanks for the great sites :D that's EXACTLY what I was looking for :D

You are a godsend my friend! :)

So I have to learn HTML before CSS (seriously dumb thing to not do I'm now realising but would have gone ahead and not done it if I hadn't have found out)

If anyone else still has any sites Im open for as many as possible (can't get enough knowledge really)

Yep well they sort of go together, (CSS controls the presentation of the page), but if you learn the HTML then you can apply the CSS to it after. Well they will teach you that anyway !!

You've got the right mindset anyway, you'll learn in no time :)

Just post any questions if you have any trouble understanding anything.
