Complementing adsense earnings

Hi
For a smallish content-based site I'm doing ok from adsense, but would like something to add to my earnings. I've been trying casalemedia for a few days but with the 1,500-2000 page impressions a day I get, earnings from them are practically nothing. Anyone have any affiliate suggestions that would combine well with adsense on a content site?

CPM advertising networks did miserably for me with similar traffic as yours. So I stopped using them altogether

 

I combine AdSense with hand-selected Amazon ads and and hand-selected ads from CommissionJunction.

 

what did you mean 'hand-selected'?

 

I look at each page I create and think "This page is about XYZ. What books from Amazon would interest someone looking at this page? What products from CJ advertisers would interest someone looking at this page?"
