Im having trouble getting one of my site into dmoz due to i suspect the competitors being the editors for the appropriate category (the editors nick is same as website admins nicK). Is there anything I can do about this?

If they have rejected your site and its listable as per the guidelines, then complete an abuse report and if your allegations are correct, then they will be removed.

However, almost all allegations that I have seen of this nature were not correct.

many people get their sites listed by becoming an editor... though if you only add your site and never log in again, there is a chance your site will be removed and flagged (or so I've heard).

I got my site listed by becoming an editor...but then, my submission may have been lost in the crash *shrug* so I'll not say that I was ever rejected. I will say that I've approved several sites other then my own though, and one of them almost made me wish I'd had just passed on by ;)

But such is the life of an editor....now I can't wait to get into other categories so I can get more sites listed which compete with me *smirk*

Though, I must say, for me at least it's more about the community (of my niche) then getting listed or who gets listed. I'd also like to say that I have sites I've not bothered submitting because I, as an editor, would not accept...

So, I guess getting approved for an editor, then accepting your own crappy site should also be grounds for site (and editor) removal (but thats speculation again).

Sorry I talked in circles... it's Friday night *hic*

Only if it violates some guidelines, otherwise it would be abuse case, also if you don't tell its your website how will they know? ;)

Also adding your own single website and never adding anything else isn't against any DMOZ rule, it would be Conflict of Interests only if did that constantly - there should be a rule add minimum of 20 website before you list your own.

Since you admitted that in public now you can expect to get a warning or they will remove you under excuse of Conflict of Interests - no evidence is need to holy inquisition, you are corrupted and they know it! (not to mention you post on heretical DP) :p

Every editor on DMOZ would have listed there own site IMO. Whats the point of being an editor for the category they picked otherwise? fun? nope. to add their own site or let people pay to be included...

First unwritten rule of DMOZ: Do not talk about DMOZ, second: Do not talk about DMOZ, third: Do not talk about listing your own websites at DMOZ. :p

I've broken all three and got removed, never mind the fact that 99% of websites I have listed didn't belong to me (or had anything else to do with me) and weren't even submitted by public but found by me the hard way, I literally listed all competitors I could find and end up being accused for Conflict of Interest - only at DMOZ!

I also once failed an honesty test for a job because when I was little ( 6 years old) I stole something from a store, then compounded the issue buy lying about it.

If they want to fire for being honest, then I'll gladly talk about that as well ;) Though, in that other thread about what people did for celebrating inclusion, I said that "I submitted four other sites" so if doing my job (as an editor) is grounds for expulsion then *shrug*

My ego doesn't allow me to lie because I would then have to say I didn't do something and I sign my name on everything I do! :D

Four is nothing I have added almost 500 other people websits besides two extra deeplinks which belonged to me and there was already nine deeplinks to my little 2000 page multilanguage website (TM) added by other editors before I've even become editor and they managed to find Conflict of Interests!!???

I wouldn't be surprised if there are former CIA members running DMOZ since this sounds like piece of there excellent intelligence work. :p

Only Conflict of Interests which I see is me being stupid enough to join DMOZ and list 500 competitors when I already had nine deeplinks listed and few more would make no difference except to newbie surfer which accidentally stumbled on to DMOZ.
