Competitor sharing same display URL?

I am doing affiliate marketing and send traffic directly to the merchant. Now I just noticed that my ads stopped showing due to a higher ranked competitor ad. How would you solve this problem? I already tried upping my max bid substantially but that didn't help. Is it allowed by the google TOS to use my own domain just redirecting to the merchant (without landing page)?
I am sure this would have an effect on the CTR though.

    Any feedback is appreciated.

    Thanks

Good question... ..Aside from increasing your bid, I don't know how you'd do it with out a landing page. But You could reduce your cost with a landing page and out bit your competitor that way.

    Good Luck

You cant get anything good with landing page that redirect since quality score for all keywords would be poor since page is empty. It is not only about bidding but also about ctr.

I suggest to higher your bids and wait some time - couple of days.

You can try to optimize your ad text, using dynamic keyword insertion in ad title, display url. Or create a landing page with dynamic content with product list and links to them. CTR is not important anymore, as it is removed from quality score.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I now have decided to create a landing page, in order to avoid bidding wars and increase my conversion rates.

However, I am a bit concerned about landing page quality.

According to Google it would be a "Website Type to Advertise with Caution". And it would be important to offer unique content.

Now, I was wondering if anyone has some more specific information about how much content and text should be used in order to avoid a low score.

I am only going to have 4 outgoing links, 3 going to the merchant (logo link, shop link, category link) and one local link which contains my business information.

You have basically described a standard problem for PPC affiliates. Direct linking to the merchant can cost so much as to be unprofitable. Landing pages are prone to being penalised for being poor quality, and it can take a lot of time and effort to make a quality landing page.

I agree with enginez. Try watching the tutorials with google. Trial and error. Test a day or half a day, check results and refine.
