Competitor copying EVERYTHING I do - What can I do?

Discussion in 'Link Development' started by geester1, Apr 18, 2009.

I started 2 new sites, earlier in March got them ranked on Googles #1 page, in position 2 & 3 for search term with 1,500,000 results, now I have noticed that everything I do, the competitor is copying...they are doing nothing illegal but they are seeing how I get good placements then doing the same.

PLEASE do not tell me to keep link building, I have a business to run and I will outsource the SEO to someone I have worked with previously with fantastic results. ;)

This is so frustrating, I now see they have a new url (building site) but they are putting articles on ezine with links tot his new site and its not even built yet!

ANy information on how I can take them down is certainly appreciated.:D:D

Contact their hosting company. It's rather easy to get them offline if you can prove they are copying your copyrighted content.

If they are copying the sources as to where you are getting backlinks, then there is nothing you can do. As one has always said, follow the successor.

If he is copying your content, that is another story.

Umm if I understand this correctly you're angry because he's article marketing too? Kind of ridiculous on your part if you ask me.

I don't think you can do much in this situation. Get used with the idea that you're not alone in the niche. I'm pretty much sure that you will have a success nonetheless if you have a quality design and provide good content/service/products. You know... they can't just copy anything and make it just the same.

well, thats the nature of the game and nothing much you can actually do to prevent this from happening. what i usually do is, i submit my site to ton of directories, social bookmarking sites, and many other places along with some real link building. this way when competitor trace the backlinks, they find links coming form all different places and not always know which ones are gold mines. kinda like creating a diversion

There's a way to discourage competition. What you do is, buy traffic, per month. Your competitor will be like, "where's he getting the traffic from?" confused.

I know of a site, that I thought to be relevant, it turns out the guy buys traffic. I already pay for advertising on his site. So it was my mistake. Looking at Alexa ranking, I thought he had real traffic, turns out its fake....

If he is just copy pasteing your articles to his site what you can do is sneak some of your links on there in random places, hopeing he doesnt catch it so you get free backlinks and will always outnumber him in google ;)

you mean your competitor is copying the content or your methods ... if it is your methods then nothing you can do. if it is content then report to google.

How about instead of trying to take them down: become affiliates with them. It makes you look nice, trades traffic, and you won't be bothered by him.

If you don't want to do that, then leave them alone. Looks like they are not in your spot, so focus on your site and leave them alone. If they take over your position, then you can use your SEO to get it back.
