I have been doing the really deep study on CB products and some days I come across some really wild, unexplained and confusing results that I Like to share. So todays find is in reference to checking competition of "EXACT" matching keywords. I started checking a few keywords as usual. Everything looked until I started looking at sites returned. I normally do not even look at the top site till I find the results desired for my keywords. However; today something tole me to look at these sites. I was finding site on the first page of google search for "exact" match competition that were complete trash. These site will never rank and I mean ever. Not now or anytime. As a matter of fact I still can not see how they are still in the search que. Here is a example of what I found. This site was a wordpress blog, with only post title, NO content, and a million tags. So this site was nothing but links. And the search I queried was not even on the site at all. The query results were in the cached page of the site. So continuing to be curious I had to take some time and see exactly how many link were on just the front page and no deeper. I pulled out the old link extractor and found 979 affiliate link alone on the one page. Now I'm sick because I need to find out how I'm going to get around this. I work hard enough as it is trying to make it to the top and now I'm faced with this BS but will figure this out. Checking most of the other pages in the top ten had the same results. So now my exact match long tail keyword is never going to get over this crap. There were 4500 matches and more then likely I'm in this battle with 50% crap in the way. Then I found out the good news. I forged the first five hundred google results against the current "exact match" / broad match. The good news was the site that were counted in the exact match were nowhere near the first five hundred pages and will never make it to the top. But on the other hand. This is a common process most of us use daily. I'm sure we all are checking our exact match competition right? So if you are and your counting on the results they obviously are completely wrong. It seems that way to me anyway. If the exact search top ten result are not found in a broad search top 500 then the competition result we are counting on have to be wrong. Wrong enough for you to pass up a good keyword due to over competition. For example If you standard is anything below 20k of comp and you return 25k then most of the time you continue looking until you get the results desired for your keyword. Well in this case you may have failed and lost out on a very good keyword. Reason being is if your return of 25K might be loaded with 25% trash that will never compete making you try something different when you were possibly 25% lower then your max limit or 20k, in turn making your competition only 15k which is well within your usable range. Just me thought. What do you think Oh and before you ask! I'm not going to show you how are where I get my info BUT I will link the site found for you to check out if you want to see for yourself. site here ***this guy is going to freak out when he sees the traffic he is fixing to get***lol
People who rely solely on linking anchor text are missing the big picture. What you learned was Google is software... just software. And ranking is not about exact phrases. Those are nothing more than page occurrences. Focus on getting your message in front of people... and let the ranking fall into place on it's own. The bottom line is it doesn't matter if you are not in the first 5 results. And the result you see from a search query will likely differ from what someone else sees as Google is not returning absolute results. They are looking at a number of criteria including user behaviors which are tracked by cookies and IP location.
Agreed, these things are decent measures and useful for estimating, but if you get too involved in estimating everything and running your blogs, sites, and life by such stats then you will get caught up in "paralysis by analysis" and get nothing done.
Which is where I was stuck yesterday. This morning I made a post without thinking about it (you knwo just to say F it) and within 32 minutes I was on page one number one. I thing I go it now.
