Its a problem that perplex alot of online marketers and businesses
How can you sell your products and services on line when so many are giving stuff away for free.
Its not just people starting out or bedroom businesses
Murdoch was giving out recently about the BBC's free news service online as I saw a survey once that said that 40% of young people (18-35) will never buy anything online
The music industry of course has been almost destroyed by it

I am not saying I am blameless in this I like I am sure many if not all on this site have downloaded free stuff online be it templates ebooks or other
But how much is this killing online business

I think things as following should be considered:
1.the necessity of the product or service.
    2.the uniqueness of your things
    3.your excellent service
I think if you can promise these points, your things will take advatage of these so-called free ones.Free things do
not mean the best.So you should try to be better and better.

I've started to notice a lot of the free stuff is supported by advertisements of some form or other. It may be a hinderence to the market in some form or other, but if the quality of your product is good enough, people will still pay for it. I mean look at Vbulliten etc. people still pay for that even though there are numerous free alternatives around. People will still pay for quality or a brand name

Linux and any software product licensed as GPL (redhat) use this same business model to be very strong companies. They understand it's not the 'product' but the business model that makes you money.

Look at facebook, google, yahoo, myspace, etc.. They have discovered a way to make lots of money by giving something away for free. You just need to come up with a similar model.
