Hello, I've used McDar's Keyword Analysis Tool and I'm analyzing some different keywords. A certain keyword I'm analyzing has many edu sites in the first SERP. In McDar, the keyword only gets 0-25 backlinks in ten websites from Google, but the Yahoo links range from 20,000-200,000. Does that mean that the keyword will be almost impossible to compete in Yahoo, but pretty easy to compete in with Google? Do EDU websites automatically have a higher priority in Google?
McDar KW Tool shows yahoo links as the total links pointing to the domain. The google links are the ones thats pointing to pages ranking in top 10 for the search term. Thus if they have less link pointing to page it will easy to compete in both SEs. Just my opinion.
I would not be surprised if .edu and .gov sites recieved some priority in certain circumstances. But as far as I have been able to see in the SERP's, edu and gov domains rank identical to most other tlds. I think Google likes to keep things fair, even when it comes to schools and the gov.
Ya i think all tld are treated the same way as com net org etc etc. But it's hard to prove it. Just based on observation of the SERPs.
But they do tend to ahve high PR and strong, old back links. Sure the edu sites can be beat and they probably aren't actively doing SEO, but you will have to work at it.
Yeah, as per opinion and experience even I don't there is much difference in terms of weightage for edu and gov links.
