Competing on Credit Cards, Loans and Insurance

    Hey Everyone,

Currently im trying to run PPC ads directly into a landing page an Iframed application for a few different offers. The one im trying to push the most is for auto loans, for pretty much any credit.

The problem is as im sure you all know that credit cards, loans and insurance are all extremely high dollar topics. Currently, im bidding as high as $4.50 for some keywords and still only showing up in 20th position(Note: my search terms are using [] for exact match) I currently dont have monetary resources to bid any higher. So at this point im not getting very many impressions, much less clicks.

What can I do to better compete, short of taking a loan out and jacking up my CPC?

You could potentially end up with a lower cpc and higher ranking if your ad converts well, but you basically have to overpay to get the proper exposure so you can get the proper rank and cpc. At those kind of numbers, it is a tough game if you are budget restrained.

Might look at promoting via other avenues besides adwords, especially if you don't know at what rate those offers will convert for you.

    Thats what I figured....

Im also advertising with adCenter and depending on the term it is almost the same.

I just signed up with ask.com and im curious to see how it performs with the CPC I set. Im also looking into 7Search and possibly TextLinkAds etc.

I think you should seperate group of keyword then create ad for each keyword group.

are you using text ads? if so, you might try making animated image ads for the same keywords and running it with much lower bids on the content network. i haven't tried it in your niche but i've been having good arbitrage success with image ads in some other competitive areas.

Not a bad idea Nitin, I hadnt thought about it. Yea, im running text ads and I should be able to handle a simple image, are animated gifs allowed? Can you show or PM me a sample of an ad you have? Im kind of curious how your presenting it..

i'm not in your niche and not comfortable showing you a specific ad ... but there's no difference in a/b testing an image ad vs. a text ad.

i'll tell you that even on high-end business services, vibrant colors on black backgrounds seems to work well. we don't go with flashing neon , but you want movement. usually we just do checklists or questions.

like for bad credit auto loans maybe ....

    "No Credit?"
    "No Job?"
    "No Downpayment?"

Then a car drives through it and the words that remain are "No Problem. Fast, Easy Auto Loans for All Buyers!"

animated gifs or flash upto 50k ... with flash you can get more animation into the smaller file sizes.

I think you should seperate group of keyword then create ad for each keyword group. and each group should't have over 30 keyword/group.
